It’s hard to deny that hipsters have had a strong influence on fashion as of late. Solid v-neck tees, skinny jeans, and floppy beanies can be seen everywhere these days. But one trend I attribute to hipster culture that I personally have a problem with is rocking a beanie during the summer. ESPECIALLY here in hot and humid Houston. This makes no sense to me. Beanies are meant to keep your head warm. Why would you rock a beanie when it’s freakin’ 110 degrees outside?
I will concede to the fact that at times there is a thin line between a knit cap and a beanie. But if what is on your head is making you sweat even more than you normally would, maybe you shouldn’t be wearing it anyways.
This post is not meant to shoot slugs at those that eff with the summer beanie. I’m just saying personally I can’t get down with that. I know for a fact I make fashion choices that some of my friends can’t eff with, like tank tops or skinny jeans (which, for the record, are not “super” skinny). I guess to each his own…
