When I woke up yesterday I thought it was all a dream. I was WRONG. ABC/ESPN NBA expert analyst Jeff Van Gundy strikes again with another mind-boggling rant pertaining to The Other 3 Kings down in Miami.
“They will break the single season win record (of 72). And I think they have a legit shot at the Lakers’ 33-game (winning) streak in (1971-72) as well. And only the Lakers have even a remote shot at beating them in a playoff series. They will never lose two games in a row this year.”
“They have put together a much better roster than anybody could ever have expected. There is no good way to defend them. They are unguardable. They are indefensible. They are just too good and have added so much shooting and are so versatile that they will score at will”
Call it what you will, but Van Gundy’s track record of confident predictions that seem all too outrageous at first, have managed to play out as predicted. Now the 33 game winning streak set by the 1971-1972 Los Angeles Lakers leaves a lot to be desired, but on the other hand, only time will tell.
I don’t know about ya’ll, but I’ll CERTAINLY be tuning in this Friday when Michael Jordan presents Scottie Pippen during his Hall of Fame induction, it’s a safe bet the Chicago Bulls’ record-setting, 72-win season of 1995-96 will find its way into the speech.
