First of all I just want to get this off my chest. I’m so sick of dudes complaining about Houston not having a “music scene.” These cats are usually the one’s who sit at home on the weekends and look to 104 KRBE for the latest and greatest music. (Sorry 104KRBE I hate to put you on blast…not really). I mean honestly do you think UGK sat around in P.A. and whined about the music scene?!? NO (brah) they got up and did something! So ask yourself are you doing your part to support the scene?! Isn’t Houston the 4th Largest City in the U.S.?! Anyways…
Shout outs to Thomas, David and the rest of the crew at The Tipping Point for hosting a cocktail party for Rhymefest. Not only are these dudes real down to earth, but they continue to think outside the box. The Tipping Point Store looks to infuse and educate Houston with the history of their products which extends beyond sneakers. Look for these guys to continue to do big things in the near future and if you have time stop by. Premium Goods, Sucker Punch, and A-Front also came through to welcome ‘Fest to the “H”…word is he’s looking to move here next summer. Take a look at these pics from the party which included local act Dirty-N-Nasty and let us know what you think!

Having lived in both cities (Houston and currently in Chicago), I have to say that people and artists here (i.e. Rhymefest, Lupe, GLC, etc.) definitely respect and admire Houston’s music scene (past and present)…and I’m glad.
To be honest, I’ve noticed something pretty interesting about both Houston and Chicago (and this might apply elsewhere, I just don’t have the insight to know) – people in both cities feel like no one is paying attention to them musically, when in reality, people around the country definitely are.
